On Sunday (September 15), Councillor Lynsey Hamilton and myself will be tackling the 24-mile Mighty Stride as part of this year’s Kiltwalk in Edinburgh.

We’ll be raising funds for The Haven, which offers support to people affected by a range of life-limiting illnesses, as well as to their family members and carers, on a self-referral basis from centres in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth.

At the weekend, we stepped up our training efforts and left Rutherglen for Hamilton – but it wasn’t quite the route we expected!

Nevertheless, we arrived 17-miles later after having to climb through bushes and walking through a swamp.
