Ged Killen, MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West, said: “Hamilton Mausoleum is one of Scotland’s most iconic buildings and is instantly recognisable with its magnificent dome and impressive lion sculptures.

“Thousands of motorists pass it every day on the M74, and I know it always catches my eye as I’m driving past.

“It is therefore extremely disappointing it has been allowed to fall into a state of such disrepair. This is surely a direct consequence of cuts to local government funding by the Scottish Government, and needs addressed as a matter of urgency.

“I am delighted the Hamilton Advertiser has launched this campaign and I would encourage readers to help us do all we can to save the Mausoleum.”
