Ged Killen Rutherglen and Hamilton West
An ATM at 173 Main Street, Rutherglen began charging customers for withdrawals on 12 January 2019, the machine had previously been free to use.
This is exactly what myself and campaigners against the cut in funding to ATMs have been warning about for over year. Yet despite consistent and sustained warnings that their cuts would cause an increase in fee charging ATMs LINK have ignored the overwhelming consensus”.
The conversion of these ATMs to fee charging machines, and the subsequent costs incurred by consumers is directly a result of LINKs obstinance and I hold them fully responsible. It is not too late for LINK to see sense and to at the very least pause the further cuts they have planned because if they continue, the ATM on Main Street will be the first of hundreds of further ATMs that will be forced to charge a fee or close completely.
