The DWP have pushed many of my constituents onto universal credit after wrongly stopping their legacy benefit. There is no transitional support and no chance to go back to the legacy benefit. This often results in a sudden and major change in income, forcing some to rely on foodbanks.
This is happening all across the country but, in his response, the Minister tried to play down the seriousness of this trend. However, he did invite me write to him about each of the individual cases.
I will, and I hope he has a big postbag.
