Ged Killen MP has intervened on the proposal for Glasgow Airport’s new flight path directly over Rutherglen.

The local MP has requested a meeting with Glasgow Airport to discuss the proposals and bring much-needed clarity over the impact that the new flight paths could have on the area.

Ged Killen MP said:

“I am keen to find out what these proposals will mean on the ground in Rutherglen and whether there will be any difference in terms of noise.

“We already have some planes coming in to land over the area, but they are high enough that noise pollution is at a reasonable level. Hopefully, the proposed new routes won’t change that significantly.”

The Scottish Labour MP is keen that Glasgow Airport proactively engages with the local community in Rutherglen. He is calling for an outreach event to ensure that local residents are kept informed about the proposals and how they can make their voices heard.

Ged Killen MP said:

“I know that Glasgow Airport has opened a consultation of their website, but the onus shouldn’t just be on the public to respond. The airport has a responsibility to proactively engage with the communities affected by the proposals.”
